Our Tutors

Language Tutor

I have been a tutor for Adult Learning for the past 5 years, teaching French, German and ESOL. I have taught at Secondary and Primary Level and have worked in schools in France and Spain.  I enjoy being creative with my teaching and using a wide variety of authentic and up to date resources to inspire my learners. It is really rewarding to see my learners grow in confidence with the language and make new friends on the way.

Health and Wellbeing Tutor

Hello, Jane Hodgkinson here, Mindfulness Teacher with Adult Learning. An interest in health and wellbeing led me into a career in nursing which later diversified into training to teach healthcare topics. Having discovered the benefits of Mindfulness on a personal level, I was keen to share this with others who may benefit too; so now combine my knowledge of health and wellbeing, teaching skills and enthusiasm for mindfulness to support others as they experience, explore and develop a mindfulness practice.

Family Learning Tutor

Having started my career teaching primary aged children, I now work in the adult education sector delivering a wide range of family learning courses. I aim for these courses to be fun and interactive whilst developing participants' skills and enhancing their existing knowledge. I really enjoy seeing learners increase in confidence, explore, and apply strategies to support and extend their own and their children's learning.

Arts and Crafts Tutor

Hi, I'm Karen and I'm passionate about art and believes that everyone can be creative - they just need a little help along the way from an understanding and experienced artist and tutor! I originally trained as an Architect before becoming a professional artist in the 1990s. I paint, sculpt and creates textiles and empower learners and community groups to create Public Artworks. Recently a sculpture at Housteads Roman Fort on Hadrian's Wall, as part the Hadrian's Cavalry project, was enjoyed by 90,000 visitors. I have been contributing to Art and Wellness projects in different settings since 1998.

Math and English Tutor

I have enjoyed teaching for over 25 years and am currently delivering Maths and English with Adult Education, from Functional Skills to GCSE. I developed my skills and love of teaching within schools, assisting young people with va rying needs and abilities to feel successful. However, my greatest joy is in teaching adults, particularly watching them grow in confidence and achieve their dreams. It is a great privilege to hear a learner say that they can now help their child with homework, or another deciding to apply for their dream job. It makes my job well worthwhile.

Employability

My name is Pam and I have been living in Cumbria for my entire life.  I have over 22 years' experience working with adults and young people helping, supporting them to realise their goals and aspirations.  I am an Employability Tutor and also deliver Functional English to learners who have enrolled onto the course to improve their skills in this area.  I also have experience of delivering Functional Maths.  I am extremely self-motivated and thrive on seeing someone fl ourish and grow with confidence in the areas they have chosen for improvement. I enjoy working as a team and promoting the courses provided by the Adult Learning ensuring professionalism is adhered to at all times.  I will endeavour to continue to provide an excellent service ensuring learners develop and grow and realise their own goals.

Teaches computing

I'm Stewart Knight, I teach computing, anything from complete beginners to web design and online safety. My degree was in Computer Networking and my masters was in Cyber Security but I'm also a pro at Microsoft Office. When I'm not busy doing computer things, I play golf. When it comes to football, I support the blues, I know nothing about football, so whichever team is in blue gets my support.
